Civitai Red's Featured Images still block NSFW despite filter toggle
Users report the platform's new content-filter settings don't deliver the promised mix of SFW and NSFW on the Featured Images feed, even with all restrictions disabled.
Civitai rolled out new content-filter controls this week, promising subscribers to its Red tier a unified feed of both safe-for-work and adult content when they disable the SFW-only toggle. Users testing the changes say the Image tab now shows the expected mix, but the Featured Images section still surfaces only SFW material regardless of settings.
One practitioner who tested the new filter panel noted that toggling every available restriction off had no visible effect on what appeared in Featured Images. The Image tab—Civitai's main model-browsing interface—does honor the toggle and now surfaces uncensored checkpoints and LoRAs alongside general-use models when users opt in. The Featured Images carousel, a curated highlight reel on the site's landing page, appears to apply a separate safety gate even when user preferences call for uncensored content.
Civitai Red launched in late 2024 as a $10/month tier explicitly designed to host unrestricted image models and outputs. The platform has become the dominant hub for open-weight Stable Diffusion fine-tunes, LoRAs, and embeddings, with tens of thousands of community-uploaded checkpoints spanning photorealism, anime styles, and adult content. For practitioners running local Stable Diffusion setups, the Image tab remains the primary discovery surface and now correctly respects the toggle. Civitai has not yet issued a public statement clarifying whether the Featured Images behavior is intentional or a bug in the new filter rollout.
