Characters Generator v1.3 adds Anima-Base integration with edge-padding and tile upscaling
A ComfyUI workflow for generating full-body character sprites now integrates Anima-Base and its turbo LoRA, with new edge-padding controls and an improved tile upscaler using Anima's inpainting checkpoint.
Characters Generator v1.3, a ComfyUI workflow for generating full-body character sprites, now integrates Anima-Base, an open-weight image model that runs locally without safety filters. The workflow, previously called "Sprite generator" for its visual-novel aesthetic, has been renamed to reduce confusion and now handles character generation with precise framing and detail upscaling.
The update centers on Anima-Base's flexibility with character knowledge and style range. The workflow author adjusted img2img behavior to work with Anima's turbo LoRA, which delivers high-quality results at faster inference speeds. Two key improvements ship with this release: edge-padding controls that keep characters inside the frame boundary, addressing a common clipping issue in full-body generation, and a redesigned tile upscaler using anima-lllite-inpainting-v2, Anima's specialized inpainting checkpoint.
How the upscaler works
During the upscale pass, the inpainting model runs on individual tiles, preserving character detail without introducing seams or artifacts at tile boundaries. This approach maintains anatomical consistency across the full-body render, a critical requirement for character-focused workflows. The workflow is available on Civitai with example outputs showing the Anima integration across multiple character styles and poses.
